Jafar and the Genie are two characters in the famous Disney film: “Aladdin” but what are their commonalities and their contrasts?

Jafar is the main antagonist of the famous Disney film: “Aladdin“.

He is the Sultan’s right hand man and the second most important authority in Agrabah.

Jafar is always accompanied by the devious Iago, both operating under the shadow of their ruler,

in a hidden room inside the Sultan’s palace. Although he may appear respectable in the eyes of the Sultan,

Jafar holds the ruler in his hand through his magic staff. Jafar traveled a lot,

gathering a vast knowledge of the world of alchemy and magic,

thus knowing the location and how to get to the Genie’s lamp inside the Cave of Wonders.

Through his dark arts he manages to identify the last piece of his evil puzzle by finding Aladdin.

Jafar thus has Aladdin arrested and through other cheating forces him to advance into the Cave of Wonders,

until inside Abu touches the forbidden treasure, leaving Aladdin and Abu inside the sand,

while Jafar is left with nothing, but with the idea of marrying Jasmine to gain power anyway.

Under the sand, however, Abu takes out the lamp making the Genie come out, it drags the two out of there making them go far away.

Aladdin thus expresses the desire for him by becoming a prince to ensure that Jasmine can fall in love with him,

despite everything however Jafar discovers that the prince is actually Aladdin and that he has the Genie’s lamp with him.

Jafar then cornered inside his secret room, sends Iago to steal the lamp,

in doing so Jafar takes possession of the lamp, becoming Sultan and subsequently the strongest sorcerer in the world.

Through a deception of the crafty Aladdin, however, Jafar is persuaded to transform himself into an omnipotent genie,

in doing so Jafar is trapped inside his lamp and sent to the distant deserts of Agrabah.
