Later he appears during the battle of Marineford to attack and kill Whitebeard with his crew, also taking with him the fruit of the devil: “Gura Gura no Mi“.

On the other hand there is Edward Teach better known as Blackbeard.

He was an English pirate who operated around the West Indies and the east coast of the North American colonies of Great Britain.

He was probably born in Bristol, England, between 1680 and 1690.

Edward Teach left England in his teens to travel to the Caribbean.

In fact, in Jamaica he served on a pirate ship in the pay of Queen Anne of England during the War of the Spanish Succession.

At the end of the war, Blackbeard moved to New Providence, Bahamas, and joined the crew of another famous pirate and former privateer: Captain Benjamin Hornigold.

Highly intelligent and cunning, Blackbeard had been well educated in his youth and could read and write.

Thanks to his skills, Blackbeard soon climbed the command hierarchy in Hornigold’s service,

becoming his right hand and, along with him, the terror of the Caribbean.

It was then that he gained a reputation as a bloodthirsty killer.

The last ship captured by this duo was the Concorde, a three-hundred-ton, twenty-six-gun frigate that was supposed to be commanded by Hornigold.

However, the old captain decided to accept the proposal for a general amnesty intended for the pirates and offered by Woodes Rogers,

the new British governor of the Bahamas. Rejecting it, Teach became the commander of the Concorde which he improved with forty guns and reinforcing the flanks.

He renamed her “Queen Anne’s Revenge“. The shrewd and fearless Teach soon became well-known enough to attract a crew of 250 pirates to his ship.
