Red and Ash Ketchum Beginning
Red is the canonical name of the protagonist of the first generation Pokémon games,
he is a Trainer from Pallet Town, present in the Kanto region.
He is the first playable character in the Pokémon series, and is also present in the animated series entitled: “Pokémon Origins“.
Red was also once friends with Blue, the grandson of Pallet Town’s local Pokemon expert: “Professor Oak“.
One day Red began to take an interest in Pokemon by stopping playing with Blue,
the latter choosing to start mistreating him.
One day, as Red prepares to leave his home to begin his Pokemon journey,
he is prevented from leaving the city by Oak who tells him that he needs a Pokemon for his own protection.
After being taken to the lab where Blue is, Oak gives the two a choice between Kanto’s three starters:
Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle.
Depending on which starter Pokemon Red has chosen, Blue will soon choose his starter Pokemon,
but one that has a type advantage over Red’s starter Pokemon.
Finally Red chose Charmander and thus began his journey.
Ash Ketchum Beginning
On the other hand, there is Ash Ketchum, the protagonist of the famous main series: “Pokémon“.
On his 10th birthday, he realized he had overslept.
Ash rushes to Professor Oak’s Laboratory to get his first Pokémon.
He initially wanted to choose Squirtle, Bulbasaur, or Charmander,
but ended up receiving the Pokémon Pikachu instead, as he arrived late.
At first, Pikachu did not obey Ash and kept running away, so Ash had to bind him.
After being chased by a flock of Spearow later in the day, thanks to Ash’s unconsciousness,
Ash attempts to save Pikachu from them. Seeing that Ash was so determined to help him,
Pikachu protected Ash from the Spearow by electrocuting the entire flock.
From that point on, Pikachu and Ash became best friends, starting their journey together.
