The Snow Queen is one of the fairy tales written by Hans Christian Andersen and the work that inspired the famous Disney film: Frozen.
What does the famous fairy tale tell?
It was first published 21 December 1844 and is seven chapters long and this fairy tale tells the story of Gerda, a very sweet,
kind and determined child in finding his best friend Kay, He falls victim to the splinters of the troll-mirror and the blandishments of the Snow Queen.
One day Hans Christian Andersen met Jenny Lind a Swedish Opera singer, with whom he fell madly in love with her.
However, she only saw him as a friend, from their relationship of friendship and unrequited love on the part of the woman, the idea of the Snow Queen was born,
to which Hans Christian Andersen took inspiration from the woman’s heart of ice.
But who was Hans Christian Andersen?
Hans Christian Andersen was born on 2 April 1805 in Odense in Denmark, he was an only child, to whom, after completing basic studies at the local school,
Andersen moved to Copenhagen in search of work as an actor, as he has an excellent soprano voice.
He was accepted into the Royal Danish Theater, to which a friend of his from the theater points,
out that he has a good flair for poetry. Andersen accepts the advice and launches into the world of poetry.
From that event that was the writer, he began to write various novels, poems, plays.
But his works that made the author more prominent were his fairy tales, to which we can mention some of the most famous:
- “The Tinderbox”
- “The Naughty Boy”
- “Thumbelina”
- “The Princess and the Pea”
- “The Traveling Companion”
- “Little Claus and Big Claus”
- “The Little Mermaid”
- “The Emperor’s New Clothes”
